American Express has come out with a unique campaign – a proactive campaign – to bring attention to the advantages of supporting small business as the holiday season launches on Black Friday. Their tag line Shop Small Business Saturday emphasizes some startling statistics.
For every $100 spent in a local business-$68 returns to the community. A large retail chain will give $43 back to the local community. Online purchases give nothing to the local community.
Using social media, print ads and an internet blast, American Express is to be congratulated for de-emphasizing the negative in this slow recovery .
Personally , I will now have a graphic awareness on how any purchase will affect the neighborhood I live; where I purchase makes a difference.
